I Drink Your Blood

7pm Friday night: Special screening with cast in attendance!

We are delighted to present a special screening of the grindhouse classic, I Drink Your Blood, as it approaches its 50th anniversary!

The film was inspired by reports of an incident in a mountain village in Iran where a pack of rabid wolves attacked a local schoolhouse, infecting people with rabies, a disease that attacks the central nervous system, driving victims mad and homicidal. Further inspiration came from coverage of the trial of Charles Manson. It was filmed in Sharon Springs, New York over eight weeks, with a mostly unknown cast at the time. It was marketed and released as a double feature with Del Tenney’s 1964 film Zombies which had been acquired by producer Jerry Gross and renamed I Eat Your Skin. It was one of the first movies to receive an X-rating from the Motion Picture Association of America based on violence rather than nudity.

The plot centers on a hippie cult under charismatic leader, Horace Bones. He and his followers come to the small rural town of Valley Hills, and begin an escalating campaign of terror against the local residents. In retaliation, local kid Pete injects some pies in the local bakery with blood taken from a rabid dog, just before the pies are sold to the hippies. After eating them, the hippies begin to fall ill, and their behavior turns increasingly towards extreme violence. The townsfolk, along with the construction crew working on a nearby dam, have to resort to extreme measures of their own, in order to defend themselves.

We are delighted to welcome four members of the original cast of the movie, reuniting to discuss the film five decades after it was shot. Present will be:

Elizabeth Marner Brooks

Ronda Fultz

Tyde Kierney

Lynn Lowry

They’ll all be sharing anecdotes, signing autographs and available for photo opportunities, in this rare opportunity to see them together!

The screening will be preceded by two shorts: Five-course Meal (Canada, Dir: James Cadden ) and Altera Pars (Greece, Dir: Sotiris Georgantas)
